Where this comes from

VolIoT's founder spent years building utility mesh — sensing networks for power and gas transmission and distribution, deployed across the US and Australia. It was the hard end of the industry: fire mitigation, downed-line detection, dynamic line rating, finding gas leaks — systems that had to keep working on remote corridors where nothing else would.

A VC takeover ended that company. What it couldn't take was the experience: years of seeing what fails in the field, what utilities actually need from a sensing network, and how much of the industry's tooling quietly assumes grid power and cell coverage that remote sites don't have.

VolIoT Mesh is new — new hardware, new systems, new interfaces, built from those lessons. It is not a continuation of that product, and it is not a fork. It is what you build when you have seen the failures, the challenges, and the needs up close, and you finally get to start clean.

Power & gas transmission and distribution

Transmission and distribution corridors cross exactly the terrain that communications infrastructure skips. The places where a downed line or a slow gas leak does the most damage are the places hardest to see into — and the cost of that blindness shows up in fire seasons and outage maps.

The Mesh is built to live on those corridors: self-reliant nodes designed to flag line faults, feed dynamic line rating, and track the conditions that drive fire risk — without waiting for the grid or the carrier to reach the site.

Municipalities & fire districts

Small municipalities and fire districts carry big-utility risk on volunteer budgets. When fire weather turns, the difference between an early call and a late one is ground truth — and enterprise sensing contracts are priced for customers ten times their size.

The Mesh is designed to give a district its own eyes: nodes placed along roads, ridgelines, and district edges, built to relay conditions back to one dashboard a duty officer can actually use.

[ RURAL LAND & AGRICULTURE ]

Rural land & agriculture

Farms, ranches, and timber land end where the coverage map does. Water levels, gates, soil, equipment, remote buildings — most of it still gets checked the old way: someone drives out and looks.

The Mesh is being built to cover land like that as one system — nodes that power themselves, carry their own network across the property, and put the whole place on a single screen instead of a truck route.

[ INDUSTRIAL & REMOTE SITES ]

Industrial & remote sites

Remote industrial sites — well pads, substations, storage yards, construction staging — sit past the end of cheap connectivity. Running fiber or paying for satellite links to watch a handful of assets rarely pencils out.

The Mesh is designed to drop in as a self-contained sensing layer: hardware, network, and dashboard as one stack, sized to the site instead of to an enterprise procurement cycle.

The pilot program

Pilots are deal-shaped — structured per-site and per-partner, because a utility corridor, a fire district, and a ranch don't need the same system. There is no fixed package to buy; there is a conversation about your site, and a pilot shaped around it.

Real hardware on your real site. We plan the deployment around your ground, install nodes, stand up the dashboard, and work through the results with you as they come in. A pilot is a build, not a demo — the system takes shape on your property.

[ WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU ]

A real site with physical access, and a named point of contact we can actually reach. Tolerance for iteration — this is early hardware, which means node swaps, firmware updates, and readings that get better over time. Permission to collect and use your site's sensor data to improve the system. A pilot is a custom system built together, with full transparency both ways while we work through the early-stage mess.

Partner companies can get things built with the Mesh — custom systems on the same stack. Solo builders and hobbyists are invited too. The Mesh isn't hidden behind a paywall, and it isn't totally open source either — we'll be honest about which parts are which.
